Proverbs 1

I read Proverbs chapter 1 today. And a section of the chapter really jumped out at me. Here it is (emphasis mine):

8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

11If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

12Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

13We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

14Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

15My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

16For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

17Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

18And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

19So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

It really jumped out at me today, because in this passage I see an apt description of Satan’s consumerist world system that we are all currently living amongst. With this in mind, read the passage again and see if you don’t see the same things I do.

Noel and I have been making progress towards being out of this hell-spawned system for many years now. We are slowly making steps in the right direction. Someday soon, Lord willing, we will not be a part of it anymore.

I see it as a commandment from God, to be separate:

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. – 2 Corinthians 6:17

But it is not easy. The world does not like to lose people that were once in bondage to it. The world makes it as hard as it can. Laws about how you can make money. Laws about how you build your house. Laws about how you raise your children. Laws about raising your own food.

It really is ridiculous. But it is meant for one thing only, to keep us in bondage to a system that wants to destroy us.

No it is not possible to be completely separate from this world. But I believe it is imperative to be as separate as possible.
